It’s crazy that after living in California all my life I have never gone exploring Big Sur California. I have always heard that the views are spectacular. The water is crystal blue and the drive is unmatched. Well all of these things were true of Big Sur California.
I started my drive from LA. The total drive was a total of 5 hours. I won’t lie the drive was a little long for me. But as you go along the coast you are reminded why you are doing it.
It was a dream to finally explore Big Sur California. For the first time, I was able to admire this rugged stretch of California’s central coast. It was so much fun traveling throughout the narrow, 2-lane State Route 1, with its winding turns.
With many stops along the way I was able to check out Big Sur California- Bixby Bridge.
I’m pretty sure that Bixby Bridge has to be the most Instagrammed feature along the Big Sur coastline. When I got there I could see why. The bridge was enormous. Of course, I made sure I got my photo op as well.
The biggest highlight for me was McWay’s Falls. It’s an 80-foot waterfall that flows year-round from McWay Creek in Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park. I wasn’t able to get as close as I wanted due to the fires. But boy was is still a spectacular sight to see.
So If you get a chance to explore Big Sur Calfornia do it! Just make sure you carry enough snacks, you dress in comfortable clothing. Most importantly make sure your camera equipment or cell phone is fully charged cause you will be taking pictures like crazy.
